COVID-19 Update

The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is constantly changing, our priority remains unchanged - the health and safety of our employees, customers and the whole community. 

To give you an overview of what we're doing to protect people and assist authorities in their efforts to slow the spread of the virus, here are some of the measures we have in place. 

Location Hours are changing

Due to current travel restrictions around Australia, Thrifty Australia has adjusted operating hours of our locations to support customers needing safe and reliable rental vehicles for their essential needs.

Information on the COVIDSafe App

Most of us would have seen that the Australian Government Department of Health is rolling out the COVIDSafe app to help health officials conduct contact tracing to stop the spread of COVID-19. The app has been built to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by assisting health professionals to contact people who come into close proximity with someone who is diagnosed with the virus. Peace of mind when you travel especially in times like this is critical. At Thrifty we have implemented rigorous hygiene standards and adopted safe work practices in regard to our vehicles and our locations in line with the National COVID-19 safe workplace principles

I want to cancel my booking what do I do?

Simply visit www.thrifty.com.au and click on the View/Cancel booking tab on the website, you will need to enter your email address and booking number or you can email us at modifybooking@thrifty.com.au.

I booked through another provider what do I do if I want to cancel?

Please contact the booking agent you booked with, they will cancel your booking and notify us.

I have a Thrifty rental and have been notified by the relevant state or territory Health Department to self-isolate for 14 days which will prevent me from returning the vehicle what do I do?

Firstly your health, and the safety of others is paramount, please call the rental location, their number is available on our website. We will work with you to resolve the issue. Please do not return the vehicle prior to notification.

I have a Thrifty rental booked and have been notified by the relevant state or territory Health Department to self-isolate for 14 days can I collect my vehicle?

No, it is important you follow the directive of the relevant government Health Department, failure to do so can result in a fine and will put others at risk. Please call the rental location who will cancel the booking for you. Contact details can be found on our website.

I have a Thrifty rental booked and have been notified by the relevant state or territory Health Department that I have COVID-19 am I able to collect the vehicle?

No, please cancel your booking online or phone the relevant location who will cancel it for you. The location contact details can be found on our website.

I have been confirmed as having COVID-19 by the relevant state or territory Health Department what should I do about my current rental vehicle?

It is very important that you stay safe and look after yourself, please call your rental location or email us at privacy@thrifty.com.au and let us know. We will work through this on a case by case basis. Please do not return the vehicle prior to notification.

I am having trouble getting through to you on the number provided?

Call volumes have increased significantly during the crisis, our team are working hard to move through calls efficiently unfortunately delays may occur and we sincerely apologise for this.  If you are unable to wait you can email us and we will either contact you directly or email a reply.
