The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is constantly changing, our priority remains unchanged; to ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers and the community.

To give you an overview of what we're doing to protect people and assist authorities in their efforts to slow the spread of the virus, here are some of the measures we have in place.

Domestic travel restrictions

Please visit the Australian Government department of health for up-to-date information on travel requirements and restrictions for each State and Territory across Australia.

Location hours

Majority of our locations are open and fully operational but due to current travel restrictions around Australia and changes to flight schedules at airports, Thrifty Australia has adjusted operating hours of some of our locations or may need to temporary close locations to respond to the changing situations.

Modifications and cancellations to bookings are easy

At Thrifty we offer peace of mind with your car rental bookings and offer flexible bookings with no cancellation fees and options to modify your booking at any time, so if your car rental is impacted by Covid 19 don't hesitate to get in touch with us or update your booking online.

If you have booked via a third party travel agent, please refer back to where you made the original booking, so they can assist you with any amendments.

I have a Thrifty rental and have been notified by the relevant state or territory Health Department to self-isolate for 14 days which will prevent me from returning the vehicle what do I do?

Firstly your health, and the safety of others is paramount, please call the rental location, their number is available on our website. We will work with you to resolve the issue. Please do not return the vehicle prior to notification.

I have a Thrifty rental booked and have been notified by the relevant state or territory Health Department to self-isolate for 14 days can I collect my vehicle?

No, it is important you follow the directive of the relevant government Health Department, failure to do so can result in a fine and will put others at risk. Please call the rental location who will cancel the booking for you. Contact details can be found on our website.

I have been confirmed as having COVID-19 by the relevant state or territory Health Department what should I do about my current rental vehicle?

It is very important that you stay safe and look after yourself, please call your rental location or email us at privacy@thrifty.com.au and let us know. We will work through this on a case by case basis. Please do not return the vehicle prior to notification.
