NRMA & THRIFTY: Bringing Communities Together

24 August 2015

Sunday, August 16th, 2015: The National Roads and Motorists' Association is helping a band of small businesses from Sydney to take unique food, drink, music and dance on an energy-packed road trip from Sydney to Melbourne this week.

For the first time, a convoy of motorbikes, food trucks and musicians, collectively known as The 2015 BEAST FEAST, will hit the road on a tour from Newtown in Sydney through Moruya, Yass, Gundagai, Albury, and Coburg to reach their final destination in Melbourne.

The pop-up eatery experience features the best fare from Young Henrys (brewery), Knafeh (traditional Turkish sweet cheese pastry), Happy as Larry (pizza), Sol Invictus Motorcycles and The Stables (retail concept).

The collective's intention is to share good cheer along the way, while being powered by NRMA Business Motoring and Thrifty.

NRMA Business Motoring provides roadside assistance, motoring and advocacy support to about 22,000 fleet-running businesses across Australia.

Thrifty Australia is one of Australia's largest car rental companies and is owned by the NRMA.

NRMA Chief Executive Officer Tony Stuart said NRMA Business Motoring and Thrifty were thrilled to sponsor the 2015 BEAST FEAST by providing a commercial refrigeration truck to keep the food fresh, and covering the whole convoy with complimentary roadside assistance, should the need arise.

"Here at the NRMA we pride ourselves on the fact that we have helped road users safely reach their destination for more than 95 years, and this partnership helps us continue that commitment," Mr Stuart said.

"Whether you're in a car, motorcycle, scooter or (food) truck, we're here to help."

Tour organiser Todd Williams said the road trip will be a cultural adventure.

"What better way to bring people together than with good food, good beer and good fun."
