Thrifty opens new facility at Brisbane Airport
01 March 2014
Thrifty Car Rental has opened a new wash facility at Brisbane Airport that will dramatically streamline back of house operations.
With over 300 car spaces, an automated wash bay, hoisted mechanic workshop, and dedicated staff areas and meeting rooms, the new facility has been designed to improve efficiency and enhance team morale.
Thrifty Regional Manager Andrea Taylor said the new facility has been welcomed with open arms by staff and customers alike.
"Plans to expand Brisbane Airport's existing runway really came as a blessing in disguise," Andrea said.
"We were due to upgrade our location soon anyway, but this news provided an opportunity to move to a larger space that is tailored to our unique operating requirements," she said.
Thrifty's former facility at Brisbane Airport only allowed for the servicing of one vehicle at a time, and could hold only 120 vehicles at 100 per cent capacity.
The new facility now allows up to three vehicles to be serviced at any one time, facilitating a faster turnaround for routine mechanical servicing performed onsite.
The automated wash has also streamlined the physical processes involved in cleaning vehicles, and the additional storage space means Thrifty assets are maintained in a safe and secure environment.
Andrea said the efficiency gains are already being noted.
"We love our new home and are thrilled to operate in such an efficient facility that makes it even easier to get our customers on the road in the best quality vehicles."
