Thrifty partners with Royal Far West
26 July 2013
Thrifty Car Rental has donated two four-wheel-drive vehicles to the Royal Far West as part of a three-year sponsorship package valued at $100,000.
One of the Thrifty Mitsubishi Outlanders will be based in Sydney, and the other in Dubbo. Both vehicles will be used to visit rural and remote communities to establish children's healthcare needs and build partnerships with local health and education services.
Royal Far West CEO, Lindsay Cane, said the generous support from Thrifty has come at a critical time.
"We travel thousands of kilometres each year in all kinds of conditions to establish the real healthcare needs of rural and remote communities, and put partnerships in place to make it possible for country kids to access the same level and type of healthcare as their urban cousins. The kilometres covered are set to increase as we expand our services to help more country families," Ms Cane said.
"The Dubbo based Thrifty vehicle has been equipped with fire extinguisher, CB radio, NRMA premium roadside assistance and first aid kit, everything we may need when travelling to remote locations," she said.
Thrifty Car Rental Acting CEO Michael Lamb said Thrifty is thrilled to have the opportunity to help such a deserving organisation.
"Royal Far West is an iconic organisation that offers a vital service to rural communities all over NSW," Mr Lamb said.
"We're so proud our Thrifty vehicles will help improve children's lives and get country kids the specialised health services they need," he said.
Acting CEO Michael Lamb handed over the vehicles at the Royal Far West medical centre in Manly on Wednesday 17 July. Children visiting the centre had the opportunity to inspect the vehicles, pose for photos and participate in a car-themed colouring-in competition.
