Maui is often considered one of the most extraordinary places in the entire world. Nicknamed ‘the Valley Isle’ due to its unique geography, Hawaii’s second largest island is renowned for its world-famous beaches, dramatic scenery, breathtaking views, historical sites, and diverse range of local wildlife. A laid back coastal island, popular amongst locals and tourists alike, Maui offers a little something for everybody with a broad range of activities sure to suit. Spend the day sunbathing on Ka'anapali Beach, hiking through a dormant volcano, chasing waves at Honolua Bay, snorkelling inside a volcanic cone, or catching a glimpse of one of the densest migrations of Humpback Whales in the universe. A place of leisure, relaxation, and natural beauty, Maui truly is like living in a dream.

Explore the Natural Beauty of Maui’s Stunning Natural Landscapes

A tropical island paradise brimming with natural treasures, it can be hard to know where to begin. A great starting point is the otherworldly Haleakala National Park, one of the must-see attractions for any Maui trip. Spend the day being blown away by over 30,000 acres of stunning scenery, featuring a labyrinth of olivine basalt rock gardens and red-hued deserts near the summit. This is the best place to spy the sunrise; watch as the sun’s iridescent rays illuminate the morning sky across a vast sea of clouds.

Equally as impressive are the verdant jungle waterfalls and angelic streams cascading into the idyllic freshwater pools in the Kipahulu District. The seven sacred pools and Haleakala Crater are two of the island’s most popular natural formations and should not be missed on your next adventure to Haleakala National Park. Next cab off the rank is a scenic drive in your rental car along the iconic winding ocean roads to the remote village of Hana. Bask in the beauty of this stunning drive as you navigate your way past lush forests, radiant beaches, sparkling waterfalls and so much more. Some of our favourite stops along the way include Twin Falls, Na'ili'ili Haele, the red sand phenomenon at Kaihalulu Beach and the famous black sand at Honokalani beach. Allow at least a day to see it all, with visitors often staying overnight at the Hana-Maui Resort. Other heavenly places to explore are – Honolua Bay, which is home to one of Hawaii’s best surf breaks, the Maui Tropical Plantation and Ka’anapali Beach, which is West Maui’s most popular and scenic beachfront.

Get up Close and Personal with some of Maui’s Incredible Marine Life

As one of the only three volcanic calderas on the planet, Molokini Crater offers a unique underwater experience unlike no other. Teeming with schools of fish and other marine life, this spectacular Marine Sanctuary is a hotspot for snorkelling due to the crater’s shallow coral reef and stunning crystal-clear waters. Spot a variety of tropical fish, moray eels, manta rays, whitetip reef sharks and the occasional giant of the sea, the mysterious whale shark. We strongly advise to get in early to beat the rush, as the area can become overcrowded in peak seasons. From one natural marvel to the next, the sheltered cove of Kapalua Bay Beach in Maui’s northwest is a great spot to escape the crowds and explore mother nature off the beaten track. Bounded by two coral reefs to either side, visitors to the bay will be privy to an array of colourful fish, varied species of moray eels and an increased chance of encountering a native Hawaiian green sea turtle. Other incredible spots to interact with the Maui locals include Turtle Town, a stretch of coral reef abundant with green sea turtles off of Maluaka Beach, or Five Caves, a more challenging underwater exploration for experienced divers.
