Car Rental Orange Airport

Let’s head to Orange with Thrifty. Full of food, wine, and friendly locals, Orange is the perfect place to visit any time of year. It’s a thriving town with ample restaurants and cool wineries; simply a gem of rural NSW. You’ll have the best time visiting Orange at any time of the year, with Thrifty.

The climate in Orange is mild, warm and temperate. Expect hot and dry summers that are typical in western NSW and typically cooler winter months. We recommend you visit in autumn, as the city and surrounding areas simply come alive during these months.

You’ll have a great time visiting Orange. Located in the Central Tablelands, this city is full of award-winning restaurants, beautiful wineries, stunning scenery, and so much more. It’s the perfect place to start your rural NSW Thrifty adventure.

Orange and the Surrounding Areas in Thrifty

Orange is a great place to start a Thrifty road trip. Grab your favourite snacks and bring your sense of adventure, because whether you’re in the local area or beyond, you’ll have the best time exploring.

For those that want to make the most of their time in rural NSW, let’s first head to Mudgee. A popular wine town, this is a serious delight for any foodies! It’s just a two-hour drive away from Orange, which makes it the perfect spot to explore. Canowindra is another excellent spot for wine lovers - it’s part of the Cowra wine region. It’s also known as the ballooning capital of Australia, so book in a hot air balloon ride and see the skies with a local operator while you’re here.

There’s plenty to do and see around Orange itself. For example, the Spring Glade walking track is one of the many paths available at Mount Canobolas. An ancient volcano, there’s plenty to see and explore while you’re hiking through. For some incredible views of Orange and the surrounding areas, head to the Pinnacle Reserve and Lookout. You can enjoy a picnic with friends while you enjoy the view.

Food, Wine, and More in Orange

Of course, you might not want to leave Orange itself, which is perfectly understandable as there is a huge amount to do and see in this city. If you'd like to make the most of your trip, try and time it with the Orange Wine Month in October, or the Orange F.O.O.D Week in April. You won’t regret it.

Orange is famous for its wineries, so of course, you’ll have to (responsibly) enjoy a winery or two. We recommend wineries like Swinging Bridge, Ross Hill, and Heifer Station. There are plenty more to enjoy here, so make sure to research the ones you love the look of. Of course, we must insert a safety warning that these wineries should be enjoyed with a designated driver. Please always pay attention to local traffic laws and drive safely.

Of course, exploring is hungry work. Thankfully, Orange has delicious dining options for you to enjoy. For a brekkie spot, try out Anything Grows, Nile Street Cafe, or Byng Street, to name a few! For dinner, we recommend The Union Bank, Lolli Redini and Sisters Rock.

Oh, and we should mention the famous Corner Store Boutique Gallery, too. It’s so popular amongst tourists and locals and it’s easy to see why! You’ll easily lose track of time browsing the shelves as you enjoy all the artwork, products, and more.

It’s clear that Orange is a gem of a city that needs to be explored. And you can do it all with ease in your Thrifty rental. We can’t wait to see you soon at Orange Airport!
