Tips and advice when visiting the Uluru region
Things to see and do with a car rental in Ayers Rock city area
With a stunning landscape, there’s plenty to see and do around Ayers Rock. If you want to learn about indigenous culture and the history of Uluru, a visit to the cultural centre may be the perfect way to spend the day. Built in 1995 to mark the tenth anniversary of the handover (when the park was given back to the traditional owners), the centre features art, educational talks, and if you’re lucky, demonstrations by members of the local indigenous community.
And of course you can’t visit the area without taking a trip to Uluru. Soak in the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets over the rock – one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks – and make memories you’ll treasure forever. Nearby Kata Tjuta is just as impressive, and it’s the ideal spot to take a stroll, explore, or simply sit back and snap some incredible photos.
You can also drive out to Kings Canyon, which is approximately three hours from Ayers Rock Resort in the comfort of your Thrifty car rental. With a beautiful backdrop of red sandstone cliffs, you can complete the rim walk or explore from the canyon floor for an experience you won’t forget.
