It’s time for your Red Centre adventure, from Alice Springs Airport with Thrifty. The Red Centre is a magical place, full of history, culture, and adventure. Alice Springs is the gateway to it all, so dust off your hiking boots and get ready to embrace the outdoors. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Alice Springs has a desert climate. This means that there will be two distinct seasons - the wet season and the dry season. In winter or the dry season, you can expect mild sunny days with low night temperatures. In the wet season or summer, expect very hot conditions with the occasional thunderstorm! Make sure to pack appropriately for the season you’re visiting during!

Alice Springs Airport is your gateway to the magic of the Red Centre. From Uluru to the East and West Macdonnell Ranges, and so much more - you can see it all, with Thrifty.

Spend Time in Alice Springs

Most people use Alice Springs as a base for other destinations in the Northern Territory. Well, we’re here to show you that it's  recommended to stick around for a while and explore what Alice Springs has to offer.

Alice Springs is the perfect place to conquer your fear of heights. With multiple companies offering a picturesque sunrise from a hot air balloon, you’d be able to see the Macdonnell Ranges before your morning breakfast. If an early wake up doesn’t take your fancy, there are also many helicopter rides operating in Alice Springs. This is definitely one for the bucket list - you’ll soar across both the East and West Macdonnell Ranges with an expert pilot, before landing safe and sound back in Alice Springs. How amazing!

It’s time to get back and reconnect with nature. Why not head out to the West Macdonnell Ranges on a camel? See how many kangaroos you can spot as you ride atop one of these beauties with locally owned and operated Pyndan Camel Tracks.

All this adventuring will surely work up your appetite! It’s a good thing that Alice Springs comes with so many delicious cafes and restaurants. With brunch spots like the Goods Coffee Shop, Base Cafe, and Page 27 Cafe, you’ll have a delicious start to the morning. And for those who prefer dinner over brunch, we’ve got you covered. If you fancy some epic burgers and pizzas, head to Rooftop Bar or Epilogue Lounge. Or, The Locals has some great crab burgers on offer.

Let’s Hit the Road with Thrifty

Alice Springs is adored by so many because of its incredible geographic location. Situated between the East and West Macdonnell Ranges, you’ll be spoilt for hikes, views, and learning experiences while you’re here. Pack your bathers and sense of adventure, as there are water spots throughout the ranges, like at Ellery Creek Big Hole. Of course, as you’re in such a special place, we do recommend you take some time to learn about the Indigenous history and culture while you’re here.

If the hikes of the day aren’t enough for you, then drive out to Rainbow Valley to experience an epic sunset and stargaze. It sure is beautiful.

Of course, there is the most epic place to visit just a 5-hour drive from Alice Springs. Uluru is the most famous point in Australia; with millions of years of history and culture, it attracts thousands of international and domestic tourists to its base every single year. We recommend booking a local tour so that you can learn, experience, and appreciate the Indigenous history and culture with Uluru while you’re here. And, make sure to watch the sunset. Uluru is famed for its changing colours, and it truly is a magical experience.

There’s plenty to see and do during your visit from Alice Springs Airport. Make sure to take in all the nature, experiences, and learning that you can. It’s going to be one incredible trip, with Thrifty.
