Car Rental Taree Airport

Taree is located in the beautiful Manning Valley, with the airport just a 10-minute drive from the centre of town. Taree is known for its direct access to many of the best national parks in New South Wales, as well as its own parks and walking trails. Taree lies on the banks of the Manning River, with multiple small islands located within the river, carved with creeks, nature reserves and parks. You don’t even have to leave Taree to see some splendid nature, although we highly recommend that you do.

Taree is a great place to call home base on your national park and Manning Valley travels, with all the amenities you could need, with restaurants, supermarkets, multiple levels of accommodation and boutique shopping. Taree is also just a short drive to other coastal towns such as Crowdy Head, known for the national park that bears its name. Drive one-hour north of Taree and you will arrive at Port Macquarie. Port Macquarie has many fun activities and makes a perfect day trip while in the region. See the famous koala hospital, goldfields, museums, galleries and heritage buildings.

Wherever you go in this area of the world, you will find fantastic produce. Manning Valley is renowned for its food, with the bars and restaurants of Taree taking full advantage of the bounty on their doorstep. Taree has a range of restaurants to eat at, from fine dining to casual pub meals. One of the best places to discover this produce directly is the Secret Farmers Market, held every Thursday. You can find just about everything, from fruit and vegetables to drinks, jam, meat, pasta and more. If you are staying in accommodation that has a kitchen, why not head down on Thursday and pick up some of the best ingredients in Australia?

Before heading out into nature, check out the Manning Regional Art Gallery. See one of the 12 exhibitions they hold each year from local and touring artists. In town, you will also find the Manning Entertainment Centre, located on the eastern edge of town, easily accessible by hire car. The 505-seat theatre often holds unique events with local farmers as well as larger acts such as the Australian Ballet and Circus Oz. Take a look at the centre’s website or ask the Taree Visitor Information Centre what events are on during your stay. If you are planning on certain activities such as fishing or beach driving, you will find the necessary permits and licenses available there too.

Coastal Drives in Your Rental Car

Taree is right by the coast and close to some of the most iconic drives in Australia. Newcastle is just a 2-hour drive south on Pacific Highway A1, with Nelsons Bay, Ghin-Doo-Ee National Park, Myall Lakes National Park, Wallingat National Park, Wallaroo National Park, and Karuah National Park all potential stops along the way. See lakes, caves, parks, islands and more in just a 2-hour stretch of road. This area makes it easy to pack a lot into a little.

Top off Barrington Tops National Park in Your Car Hire

The best way to top off your journey is by immersing yourself in perhaps the most impressive national park on this stretch of the coast. Barrington Tops National Park is a world heritage listed rainforest, listed as of international significance. The park is both a walkers and drivers paradise, with stunning views not far from car parks and rest stops. Walking, fishing, biking and kayaking are all great ideas. With such dense rainforest, you will feel a million miles away from civilization and be able to completely enjoy the natural surroundings while being less than two hours from Taree.
