Extreme Drought Conditions in Tamworth and surrounding areas
Tamworth Shire Council in NSW is currently suffering from severe drought. Level 5 water restrictions are in place. As a result until these restrictions are lifted we are unable to wash the exterior of any of our vehicles. Rest assured your vehicle will still be in top mechanical shape! We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but trust you understand that Thrifty like the rest of the Tamworth community must conserve what little water remains at any cost.
Please remember that driving in drought conditions can be dangerous so slow down and stay safe during this difficult time.

Things to see and do in Tamworth with a rental car
Tamworth and country music go hand in hand! That's because it's become the home to all things country music in Australia. There's the Big Golden Guitar, which also has a tourist centre - an excellent stop to get local insights on places to see in the region. There's also the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame which showcases memorabilia from pioneering and newer faces in the country music scene.
The big event of the year is the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Held annually, country musicians and fans from all over the world flock to the city in celebration of the musical genre.
If you're interested in things other than music, Tamworth also offers lots of other attractions. There are numerous museums and parks to explore. The Marsupial Park is full of marsupials of all kinds - a must see for kids and animal lovers! For transport enthusiasts, visit the popular Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum and the Australian Railway Monument and Rail Journeys Museum.
No matter where your interests lie, you'll find something (or many things!) to explore while in town. A Thrifty rental car will help you drive around with ease.
