Car Rental Moree Airport

The name of the game in Moree is relaxation. Moree is located in the Gwydir Valley, a place with a pleasant climate and natural thermal pools that bring visitors from all over the world looking to tap into their natural healing power. These mineral-rich waters are the driver of tourism in Moree, but there is much more to do on top of a dip and a soak.

Moree has a bustling food scene, with the rich soil of the Gwydir Valley producing some fantastic food and wine. From beef to world-class red and white wine, the restaurants of Moree are stocked with this fantastic produce; see it in action at the Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival, held in May. At the show, you can see live music acts while enjoying the produce of the region.

Take a drive around Moree in your rental car and see the fantastic art murals. These murals, along with the art deco style of the architecture, make a great first activity. There are tours that depart from the visitors centre, allowing you to follow a guided tour, or you can drive around at your own speed and take in the stunning 1920s and 1930s architecture. It is impossible to miss the art deco buildings as they make up the majority of the Moree CBD. You can pick up a copy of the Heritage Trail Pamphlet from the visitors centre to add to your driving journey.

With great food, relaxing thermal pools, and a fun heritage city design, Moree has a lot going for it as a travel destination, including some fantastic drives  to national parks and other smaller regional towns.

Take Your Hire Car for a Natural Soak

There is never a bad time to take a relaxing soak in mineral-rich, natural thermal pools, especially given that the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre has recently undergone a major redevelopment. Discovered by accident when searching for a source of irrigation water, the mineral-rich waters of the Great Artesian Basin sprang to the surface. The average temperature of these pools is 41 degrees celsius, warmer than most natural springs. At the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre, you will also find a gym, day spa, kids water park and a gift shop. The centre is located in the heart of Moree, just a few minutes from the airport. No matter what ails you, a natural thermal pool, massage and skin treatment is sure to help.

Take a Drive Around Moree in Your Rental Car

Located on the north side of the Mehi River, the Bank Art Museum Moree is a must when in town. You will see the building as part of the heritage trail, housed in a stunning federation era building (built in 1911). If you want an art fix, Moree is the spot. BAMM is the only art gallery in Moree or the surrounding area. BAMM currently holds the most significant collection of Aboriginal art in regional New South Wales. The museum holds workshops for all ages, and the current exhibitions can be found on their website. Some exhibitions include Art After Dark, where you can enjoy the artworks with a drink in hand after the museum has formally shut for the day.

Drive around the region to see various nature reserves and stunning spots along the Gwydir River. An hour and a half drive from Moree to the south, you will find Mount Kaputar National Park. Take in the breathtaking dense forests from one of the lookout points. The park has many walking trails to enjoy with some fantastic scenery not far from the car park.
