Car Rental Moree Downtown

Moree is located close to the Queensland border in northern New South Wales and is a picturesque part of the world with plenty of activities to do and places to drive in your rental car. Moree is a fair way inland, around 5-hours from the coastline of New South Wales and towns such as Coffs Harbour, but there are plenty of other places to drive in the region, including national parks and other regional towns. Just a short drive of Moree, you will arrive at  towns such as Inverell, Narrabri and Boggabilla on the Queensland border. However, Moree is a great place to spend a few days just on its own. With fantastic produce from the region, including beef, wine and olives, you're sure to hit some walking trails to burn off those Moree calories.

Moree is known for one thing above all else, hot springs. The thermal pools of Moree were discovered by mistake while searching for irrigation water in 1895. This mistake tapped into the Great Artesian Basin and brought forth mineral-rich waters that over 300,000 people a year come to experience from overseas and here in Australia. There is never a bad time to visit a hot spring, particularly now that the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre has undergone a multi-million dollar redevelopment. These natural hot springs are rich in minerals from deep inside the earth and are known to help with muscle soreness and fatigue. Elsewhere at the Aquatic centre is a children's aquatic zone to keep the little ones busy, and has a fully kitted out day spa to add to the overall relaxing experience. The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre is located in the heart of Moree downtown and a must-experience activity when in Moree.

Take a Drive in Your Hire Car Around the Moree Region

Moree is located in a beautiful part of New South Wales, and is part of the lush Gwydir Valley. Take your rental car on a cruise to one of the national parks or forest reserves in the region and getaway into nature. Pilliga Nature Reserve is just a two-hour drive south of Moree. This area includes the Timmallallie National Park, the Pilliga State Conservation Area and the Pilliga Nature Reserve. If you want nature, you will certainly find it here; as the largest remaining forest in Australia, it covers over 500,000 hectares. Here you will find hundreds of species of bird, a steady koala population and a large number of walking trails, including the Sculptures in the Scrub Walking Track. This walking track features award-winning sculptures from artists that collaborated with Aboriginal Elders.

An hour and a half south of Moree is Mount Kaputar National Park. Walk the main hiking trails to one of the spectacular lookout spots. One of the most popular walks in the park is the Dawsons Spring Nature Trail, an easy 1.5-kilometre track where you can see waterfalls and lush wildflower patches. If you want something more intense, take the Mount Kaputar Summit Walk, a steep 2-kilometre walk with panoramic views from the peak at the end.

Some Top Spots to Drive in Moree with Your Rental Car

Moree is filled with interesting Art Deco architecture. Take a self-driving tour of the town and its many heritage buildings. Pick up a pamphlet from the visitor centre and see these historic buildings. One of the buildings you will see is the Bank Art Museum Moree or BAMM. Housed in a 1911 Federation-era building, it is the only art gallery in Moree or the surrounding region. This exclusivity comes with perks, inside you will find one of the largest Aboriginal art collections in regional New South Wales. With fun workshops for kids and adults and after dark wine tours, there is plenty to do.
