It has a remote atmosphere surrounded by lush green forests and ferns. If you’re quiet, you might even see a swamp wallaby or two bounding around the track. The Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens are just a 5-minute drive south of Batemans Bay. With free admission into the gardens, it’s easy to enjoy the garden’s stunning collection. If you are there on the first Sunday of the month, we recommend going on the guided walk hosted by one of the garden volunteers. The garden offers a number of walks, from the Aboriginal heritage walk, focusing on traditional uses of the plants housed in the garden, to the Arboretum Track, with a formed path and gentle slopes. All in all, there are five separate walks ranging from 1-2 kilometres long, so they are appropriate for all age groups.

A 15-minute drive south, past the gardens in Mogo, is the Mogo Wildlife Park. The park is home to several exotic animals, from lions, tigers, rhinos and the ever-adorable red panda. You can even purchase up-close encounters with the animals, such as feeding a lion or playing with some meerkats. It is recommended to spend at least two hours touring the park.
