There’s Plenty to Do and See in Nowra

Located on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, Nowra is full of local walks and riverside options. Take a stroll through Ben’s Walk, an easy and well-shaded riverbank walk that will give amazing views of both the river and hinterland. Or hike through The Grotto Walking Track, which will give you beautiful views at the summit. 

Nowra has a thriving arts and culture scene. It’s home to the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre, where you’ll find a huge array of local artwork to see and admire. You can also visit the Meroogal, which is part of the Historic Houses Trust. It’s set up in tribute to the four generations of Australian women who once lived there. If you’re interested, head to the Fleet Air Arm Museum, which is the largest aviation museum in Australia. There’s so much to discover in Nowra!

Of course, no trip to a new location is complete without some excellent food. For brekkie, check out The Tea Club Cafe or The Deli on Kinghorne - both delicious, local options. Nowra and Beyond, With Thrifty

While you’re in Nowra, you’ll have to explore the local area, too. 

Luckily, Nowra is close to some incredible sights, like Jervis Bay Marine Park, for example. This National Park consists of several protected areas along the coast of Jervis Bay. Explore the incredible white sand of the world-famous Hyams Beach and take a dip in the pristine blue waters while you’re here. You’ll also need to keep a lookout for any whales if you visit during the migration season. It’s such a beautiful area, so we recommend checking it out. 

Just an hour away is Wollongong, which is another beach town. It boasts beautifully sunny summers with a chilled-out beach vibe. You’ll find endless cafes, thriving nightlife, and some incredible sights while you’re here. You can find Wollongong by heading up the Grand Pacific Drive, which is a 140-kilometre road that’s full of breathtaking sights. 

On the road up to Wollongong, head into Kiama and take a peek at the spectacular blowholes. And, if you’re ready for an awe-inspiring view, keep driving past Wollongong and along the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge. This bridge is heavily featured on many Instagram pages, and wow - it’s easy to see why!
