Car Rental Narrandera Airport

Narrandera Airport is an 8-minute drive from the Narrandera CBD. Narrandera is located in the beautiful Riverina Region of New South Wales, famous for its wineries and produce. Narrandera is close to many other regional towns and cities such as Wagga Wagga, Darlington Point and Griffith, offering stunning drives and day trips from Narrandera. The region is known for its relaxing vibe, with Narrandera offering a small-town feel, where things seem to move slower. See wetlands, the beautiful Murrumbidgee River, parks, Lake Coolah, regional museums and a koala reserve.

The Narrandera Nature Reserve, more commonly referred to as the Koala Reserve, is perhaps the most popular attraction in the immediate vicinity. See hundreds of koalas in their natural habitat, just 30-minutes from town in a rental car. The koalas thrive in this area due to the Red River Gums that grow on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, providing an ideal source of food and habitat for the koala. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, and picnicking. If you are in town on the first Sunday of the month, visit the Narrandera Farmers Market at the Shady Gum Nursery to pick up some local produce or handmade crafts.

Visit the Narrandera Visitors Centre to find out everything you need for the events in town and the Riverina Region. Housed in a Federation-era building, the centre also holds the ‘Big Playable Guitar’. The guitar once held the record for largest guitar on earth, at 5.82 metres long.

Drive Around the Riverina Region in Your Car Hire

When you’re in the Riverina Region, it doesn’t matter where you first land, but how many places you visit. With a hire car, the entire region opens up, so visit all the wineries and regional towns of the Riverina for an unforgettable trip. The Riverina is the largest wine-producing area of New South Wales, accounting for more than 60% of production. Here you will find some of the best wineries in the world, with cellar door access, tastings and tours offered at many. The main hub town for the wineries of the region is Griffith, just over an hour northwest of Narrandera. You will find wineries producing grapes for every variety of wine, with a particular emphasis on chardonnay and shiraz. Please remember to enjoy responsibly and with a designated driver in tow.

There is more to the Riverina than just wine; with a growing foodie culture developing in the town, it’s becoming known just as much for food. The Riverina region is known as Australia’s Food Bowl, with just about everything being exported from the area. The strong Italian heritage in the region is partly responsible for this food culture, with 60% of the population of Griffith claiming Italian heritage. So unsurprisingly, Italian restaurants serving Australian variants on Italian wine for Australian-Italian wineries have become a big drawcard for the region.

The Riverina is perfect for driving from town to town, trying the fantastic food in each one and experiencing unique tourist attractions.

See Some Nature in the Region with a Rental Car

If the koala reserve of Narrandera or the wineries of Griffith hasn’t given you enough nature, there are plenty more options in the region to head out, soak up some greenery and decompress from everyday life. 20-minutes northwest of Narrandera is the Murrumbidgee Valley National Park. Situated along the river, the park is perfect for camping, kayaking, bushwalking and animal watching. See hundreds of species of birds nesting along the river as well as local grey kangaroos. In addition, the park is home to the largest continuous tract of river red gums on earth and an important ecological hub for many species, including a steady koala population.
