Welcome to the beautifully vibrant regional city of Mildura! Here at Thrifty Mildura Airport, we can’t wait to welcome you for your holiday! We hope that you truly love enjoying this countryside gem and make the most of your stay exploring all that Mildura and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Mildura has a local steppe climate. This means that there is little rainfall throughout the year. The temperature varies according to the season, but you can expect warm summers and colder winters.

Mildura is a magical place. It’s full of contrast, from the banks of the Murray River to the vast outback - you’ll experience a huge range of landscapes while you’re here. We know that you’ll have a fantastic time visiting with Thrifty.

The Local Mildura Area, with Thrifty

You’ll need plenty of time to explore the natural beauty of Mildura while you’re here. Located alongside the Murray River is the perfect example of a rural, vibrant city that is full of contrast.

Mildura has plenty of arts and culture to explore while you’re here. In fact, it’s home to the Mildura Arts Centre, which is the leading arts and culture hub in Northern Victoria. Other galleries you can explore include the Barkindji Wiimpatya Murra Centre, the Mildura Riverfront Art Gallery, and the River Runs Through. Or, as a fun night-time activity (and provided you have a designated driver), try out Mildura’s first Paint & Sip Studio, Studio De Vin. It’s the perfect night with friends, date night, or simply a fun holiday excursion. Remember to always enjoy activities like these responsibly.

Enjoy the perfect day out with family and friends on the Murray River with the Mildura Paddle Steamers. It’s a local family owned and operated business that’s been around since 1955, so you’ll be in incredibly knowledgeable hands while you enjoy this two-hour cruise. Or, if you’re feeling brave, explore Mildura from high above with Ramair Flying Services.

Of course, we can’t forget about food and drink while you’re here. Thankfully in Mildura, there is something for everyone. There’s plenty of local produce too, with vineyards and orchards a common sight throughout the area. Indeed, from cute cafes to boutique distilleries and award-winning restaurants, Mildura will be a foodie delight for any who visit. We recommend starting your day at Nash Lane, Stefano’s Cafe, Blk Mlk Specialty Coffee, and Tribute 94 Cafe. For restaurants, we suggest Brass Monkey, Andy’s Kitchen, The Province, and Stefano’s Restaurant.

Mildura is not only a great place for your holiday, but it’s also the perfect base location for any exploring you would like to do, as it’s a great location for rural adventures.

A simple two-hour drive from Mildura city is Murray-Sunset National Park. This is a beautifully untouched landscape that is perfect for a relaxed day of exploring. It has vast, wide-open landscapes, beautiful sunsets, and is a great option for a multi-day exploration. Plus, here you’ll find one of the rare Pink Lakes (yes, a lake where the water appears pink in colour!), so grab your camera and get ready to take some exquisite pictures. There are plenty of walking tracks around the lakes, as well as campsites nearby - so have a great time exploring.

Of course, while you’re in Mildura, you’ll have to set aside some time to see the world-heritage listed Mungo National Park. Famed for being home to the world’s oldest human cremations, this park is representative of the earliest kinds of humanity’s spiritual beliefs. It’s an incredible place to learn about the history of the Aboriginal people, so take your time to explore, discover, and learn.

Mildura is a great place for your next adventure. Whether you’re after a vibrant rural city or to explore the wilderness around it, Mildura has it all! We are so excited about your trip, and can’t wait to meet you soon, at Mildura Airport Thrifty.
