Lismore is very close to some incredible and historical national parks. The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia are a collective of rainforests that are some of the oldest in the world; in fact, these rainforests were formed millions of years ago. Make sure to check out Wollumbin National Park and Mebbin National Park while you’re visiting Lismore. You’ll be visiting some iconic history while also enjoying some natural beauty, too.

Of course, the bush isn’t for everyone. So, if you prefer the salty sea air,  head to the coastal towns of Byron Bay and Ballina. These towns are home to beautiful beaches, like Belongil and The Pass. You’ll find yourself among one of the most popular spots in New South Wales when you visit so make the most of it! It sure is beautiful.

Make sure to have a wander through one of the many farmer’s markets while you’re in town. There are several to choose from, including Lismore Farmers Market, Organic Market, or Produce Market. Lismore also has some delicious food choices. For a spot of brekkie and that caffeine hit, try out Henry’s Bakery Cafe, The Spotted Pig, or Garden Plate. For dinner, we recommend Dirty Wilson, The Loft, and Cafe Saffron.

Lismore has a thriving local events scene. If you’re interested in attending one, make sure to plan your trip to coincide with one of these standout events, like the Summer Art Exhibition, Eat the Street, and Nimbin Mardi Gras.
