Let’s head up to the Northern Rivers with Thrifty Lismore Airport! Lismore is a beautiful area that’s located in northern New South Wales. With more than 250 days of sunshine per year, Lismore is the ultimate town in chilled out vibes and relaxed living. And, as it’s just 45 minutes from some of the top beaches in NSW, you’ll have the best of both worlds.

Lismore enjoys plenty of sun all year round and has a moderate climate that is both mild and temperate. Be prepared for a bit more rain in the summer months, but we are  confident you’ll have a great time whenever you visit Lismore.

Lismore is right in the heart of the Northern Rivers region. You’ll enjoy all the culture and variety that this vibrant town has to offer when you visit, so relax, enjoy, and get ready for a chilled-out time.

There’s Plenty to Do in Lismore

Lismore is a thriving small town that offers plenty for its locals and visitors to do all year round. As the heart of the Northern Rivers community, you can expect local links with surrounding areas like Byron Bay, Ballina, Nimbin, Richmond Valley, and so many more. Take your time to visit the surrounding areas while you’re here. Chances are, you’ll never experience a region quite like this one.

Lismore has a thriving local events scene. Plan your trip to coincide with one of these standout events, like the Summer Art Exhibition, Eat the Street, and Nimbin Mardi Gras.

While you’re here, why not check out the thriving culture and arts scene? Because of its unique living style and climate, Lismore attracts thousands of artists every year to create, showcase and work within the area. Make sure to keep an eye out as you’re strolling through the streets, as there is plenty of street art for you to marvel at. Affectionately known as ‘Back Alley Gallery’, Lismore has a dedicated street art area, which international artists have decorated with their work. Make sure to check out some galleries and theatres while you’re here too. There are heaps to choose from, like Allan Ussher Glassblowing Studio, Art Aspects Gallery, and Lismore Regional Gallery for art, and Lismore Theatre Company and Star Court Theatre for dramatics.

Of course, in this region, farmers markets are both common and adored. Get your Sunday brekkie supplies at Lismore Farmers Market, Organic Market, or Produce Market, to name a few. If markets don’t take your fancy, head to a cafe to break your fast instead. Garden Plate, The Spotted Pig, Henry’s Bakery Cafe, and Cafe Capello all offer delicious options for both coffee and food. To end the day, we recommend restaurants like Cafe Saffron, The Loft, and Dirty Wilson.

Let’s Hit the Road with Thrifty

Lismore is the gateway to some incredible nature spots. In fact, it’s home to some of the oldest rainforests on earth that are millions of years old. These rainforests are part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia and include Wollumbin National Park and Mebbin National Park. Get lost amongst the trees and enjoy the sounds of nature as you hike through these natural beauties!

If you fancy the beach over the rainforest,  head to Bundjalung National Park. Pack your bathers, because this is the perfect mix of beaches, rivers, and freshwater lagoons. You’ll spend more time in the water than out! Other options include the dreamy coastal towns of Ballina and Byron Bay. Each with its own rugged coastline, these spots are popular with locals and tourists alike. Ballina is much quieter than Byron, so head here if you want a break from the crowds.

Lismore is a gem of a town and one that we know you’ll love. Whether you want a thriving arts and culture scene, epic rainforests or picturesque beaches, Lismore is home to it all. We can’t wait to see you soon, at Thrifty Lismore Airport.
