Car Rental Karuah Downtown

Karuah is located in both the Port Stephens and Mid-Coast councils in the stunning Hunter Region. The town is just 55-minutes from Newcastle and less than an hour-and-a-half from the heart of the Hunter Valley, one of New South Wales Wales's major wine-producing regions. With the Karuah River flowing through town up to the Karuah National Park, this area of the world is a great place to rest and relax while being only a stone's throw away from other major tourist areas and cities; it is an area that offers the best of both worlds. With a rental car, you can choose between the stunning coast and small rural towns, Newcastle to the south or a wine-based holiday in the Hunter Valley, just to the west.

Karuah is a quiet, relaxing town where things seem to move slower than the rest of the world, and that isn't a bad thing at all, especially when it comes to relaxing. The first stop on your visit should be the Karuah Visitor Information Centre. Here you will find friendly staff, brochures and ideas on how to spend your time in town.

Take a Drive in Your Hire Car to Wine and Weekend Fun

It's hard to visit this area of the world and not try the fantastic wines from the region. Take a short drive southwest just outside Newcastle, and you will find more wineries than any other area of Australia, producing world-class and internationally renowned wine. There are over 150 cellar door tastings to experience, and its famed paddock to plate farming system will pair mouth-watering food to go along with it.

Along with the wineries, you will find terrific restaurants serving local produce from the Hunter Valley; it is as much a foodie area as it is a wine area these days. You will also find more to drink than just wine, with craft beers, boutique distilleries and other liqueurs giving the wine a run for its money. With more activities such as hot air ballooning, golfing, art workshops, chocolate making, gallery experiences, gardens and more, there is plenty to pair your wine with here. Please remember to enjoy responsibly, and ensure you have a designated driver in tow.

National Parks, Forest Reserves and Coastal Drives in Your Rental Car

From the riverside and coastal drives around Karuah and the bay to inland national parks and forest reserves, there are so many places to take your rental car. One of the major national parks in the area is Barrington Tops National Park, in the Hunter Region. Barrington Tops makes a great break from the wineries and is a popular day and weekend trip from Newcastle and other coastal towns. Barrington Tops is home to the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests and has everything nature lovers and those looking to get away from the city could want. See a diverse range of Australian flora and fauna and some of our most iconic native animals. With an excellent network of bushwalking trails, you can see spectacular scenery right out of the car park. Along with Barrington Tops, Karuah National Park, Worimi National Park and the Hunter Wetlands National Park are all less than an hour's drive from Karuah. So why not try some wine, food, regional culture and see ancient rainforests? There's nowhere else quite like the Hunter Region.
