Clyde North is close to everything you need for trips around Melbourne. You are close to shopping, restaurants, museums, pubs, parks, and more with your rental car. Renting a car from Clyde North not only opens up all of Melbourne but all of Victoria as well. Being on the southeast boundary of the suburbs, all the fantastic nature and natural parks in east Victoria are easily accessible.
It is the best of both worlds, with Melbourne on the left and beautiful national parks on the right. There are also many parks within Clyde North itself, giving a perfect place to relax and return after a day of sightseeing in the city.
Drive around and check out all of Melbourne’s incredible heritage-listed buildings. Melbourne is full of history, represented through the city and its architecture. Some must-sees include Government House, State Parliament, The Royal Exhibition Building that sits within the lovely Carlton Gardens, The State Library of Victoria, South Melbourne Town Hall, and in the heart of the city, Flinders Street Station and St Paul’s Cathedral. These buildings offer great photo opportunities, and many are surrounded by other shops, parks and gardens.
Two streets that are a must-visit during your trip to Melbourne are Bourke Street, with its fantastic shopping, and Collins Street with its exquisite buildings; the east end of Collins Street is referred to as ‘The Paris End of Collins’. The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, The State Library of Victoria (the home of Ned Kelly’s Armor) and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts (ACCA), with its weird and wonderful exhibitions, are all free entry. Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to free culture in Melbourne, with many more galleries and museums to explore and enjoy.

French Island is the island that sits inside Western Port Bay. A national park full of native animals, flora and fauna. The ferries that leave for French Island are just 30 minutes away from Clyde North, with the island located just to the southeast of Melbourne. The island is home to more koalas per square kilometre than anywhere else in Victoria and acts as a haven for many species. You will also find over 230 bird species nesting on the island. Full of walking trails suited to all fitness levels, it makes a great day out from Melbourne and Clyde North.
