Car Rental Campbelltown Downtown

Campbelltown is full of great places to eat, cultural sites to enjoy and natural locations full of walking trails close by. Campbelltown sits on the outskirts of metropolitan Sydney, being an hour from the Sydney CBD. This opens up the possibility of enjoying Sydney through day trips while returning to the relaxed feel of Campbelltown in the evenings.

Sydney has several days’ worth of activities and sightseeing to do. From the famous Sydney Opera House to the Harbour Bridge, there are iconic buildings to see and many heritage sites to enjoy. Sydney is full of history, and these buildings are dotted all over the metro area and beyond. See the churches, observatories, homes, museums, galleries, train stations and courthouses that give Sydney its distinct feel and atmosphere.

Around Campbelltown, you will also find spectacular nature and national parks. Drive an hour south of Campbelltown in your car hire to the Dharawal National Park. The park gets its name from the local Dharawal people who have lived on the site for at least 15,000 years. See the swimming holes, waterfalls and beautiful bushland across the 6,500 hectares and full of native animals and unique flora and fauna. After the hour-long drive to arrive, it's best to stretch your legs. Start with the Jingga Walking Track; it gives a great overview of the park and what it has to offer. Join one of the Indigenous walking tours, where you can learn how the local Aboriginal people lived off the land, what plants are important and how they can be utilised.  The park is full of activities, from fishing, picnicking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and walking on its many trails.

You couldn’t ask for a more diverse location to stay, with the metropolis of Sydney on one side and the beauty and pristine nature of national parks like Dharawal on the other. Campbelltown really does have the best of both worlds.

With a Car Rental, the Best of Art and Culture Open to You

There are many museums and galleries both in Campbelltown and Sydney. Start with the Campbelltown Arts Centre (CAC). CAC allows artists to take risks, raise questions, confront topics and create a dialogue around them. There are always multiple exhibitions at CAC, and with free entry into the gallery, it fits into any travel budget. The gallery is also home to a tranquil Japanese garden, and visitors are welcome to enjoy the garden at no cost. Enjoy the garden while grabbing a coffee at the arts centre café.

Another free museum is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The museum offers a huge collection of local, national and international artworks. It is certainly always full of the unexpected and makes a great addition to any day trip into Sydney from Campbelltown.

There are many more free museums in Sydney, such as the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Powerhouse Museum, the Australian Museum (the oldest museum in Australia, housing 20 million artefacts) and Camden Museum. All of these wonderful cultural centres are easily available to reach with a rental car.

More Shopping, More Fun With a Car Hire

Campbelltown is a great place to shop, with boutique stores and large shopping centres such as the Macarthur Square shopping mall, the Campbelltown Mall and an extensive range of smaller, local stores.
