One of the most popular day trips from Sydney and Alexandria is to the Blue Mountains National Park. The start of the Blue Mountains is within a 2-hour drive from Alexandria and the Sydney CBD. The National Park is home to the famous Three Sisters rock formation, historic walking trails, plummeting waterfalls, ancient trees and sacred Aboriginal sites. If you want to pack a lot in a short amount of time, head to the Katoomba area of the park. Katoomba is regarded as the heart of the park. Here you can see the Three Sisters formation, Wentworth falls, and over 20 lookout spots that give rewarding views from stunning hiking trails. Wentworth Falls is located just a short walk from the car park, so park the hire car and take a packed lunch and enjoy the sounds of the falls and the smell of the eucalyptus trees. If you don’t feel like hiking and want to stick to being behind the wheel, there are many locations inside the park that are accessible with a 4WD vehicle.
