Your gateway to the Whitsunday Islands, the Great Barrier Reef, and so much more, it’s easy to see why this is such a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international tourism.

Airlie Beach has a sub-tropical climate, with fair temperatures all year round. The summer months tend to be more hot, humid, and likely for rainfall, and the winter months are cooler, with plenty of sunny days.

Be sure to pack your bathers for this coastal adventure! You’ll be spending plenty of time both by the water and exploring it.

The Airlie Adventure, with Thrifty

It’s no secret that most people visit Airlie Beach as their base for an island adventure. Airlie Beach is perfectly located next to the Whitsunday Islands; 74 islands clustered together between Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. Airlie Beach is the central hub to this entire region, so rest easy, knowing your stay here is going to be simply spectacular.

There are both day and overnight trips from Airlie Beach out to the Whitsundays. With plenty of tour companies operating throughout Airlie, simply pick a trip that suits your style! With the overnight ones, you’ll be sleeping on a boat, so for those that get seasick - this might not be the best option.

During your trip to the Whitsunday Islands, you’ll be visiting Whitehaven Beach! This spot regularly tops the list of the world’s best beaches due to its white sand, dazzling blue seas and unique formation. Take the short hike up to Hill Inlet and see Whitehaven from this viewpoint and enjoy how it’s formed in that exact moment - for it’ll never be the exact same again!

There are also day trips out to the Great Barrier Reef. This is an incredible opportunity to see one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World! Snorkel your way over the colourful coral and see how many fish you can spot! Remember not to touch the coral or the fish as you explore this natural beauty.
