Things to see and do with a rental car from Roma Airport
Not to be confused with Roma in Italy, the small country town of Roma - located a one-hour flight from Brisbane - is a true Queensland gem. While Roma is the second largest urban community in Western Queensland, it doesn't have a frequent public transport system, so the best way to discover everything the area has to offer is by hiring your very own rental car.
Roma has earned a reputation as the 'gateway to the outback', and is home to the Roma Saleyards, which is the largest cattle selling centre in Australia. The outstanding Carnarvon National Park, with its deep gorges, diverse flora and fauna and Aboriginal rock art, is also a must-do - only a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the heart of Roma.
Of course, you can't come to Roma without visiting The Big Rig, which tells the story of the oil and gas industry in the area.
If you're visiting the region of Roma is summer, make sure you always have a generous supply of water at hand because temperatures can get sizzling!
