The Thrifty desk at Canberra Airport is located on the arrivals level of the roadway, just outside the terminal. We’re the third office down – so we couldn’t be easier to find once you step off the plane. If you’re arriving from town rather than flying in, it’s a short 15-minute taxi ride, or you can take the Airport Express shuttle for $12 one way. Alternatively, the public ACTION bus also goes to the airport – just take the 11 or 11a.

Things to see and do with a car rental in Canberra

As the capital of Australia, Canberra is a bustling city that’s got plenty to see and do. The Australian War Memorial and Parliament House are both popular places to visit, and you’re sure to learn a lot. Questacon, an interactive science and tech museum for the young (and the young at heart) is another unique option, and is an especially good choice for a rainy day. And if you’re in town on a Sunday, make your way to the Old Bus Depot Markets for food, trinkets, and more.

Of course, there’s lots to do outside the central city as well. Head to Mount Ainslie for a scenic hike – you’ll love the fresh air and incredible views out over the city. You can also visit some of the decadent wineries and restaurants nearby, such as Lerida Estate or the Poacher’s Pantry, or simply pack a picnic and drive to Lake Burley Griffin for a relaxing afternoon by the water.
