Things to see and do with a car rental in Cairns

Renting a car in Cairns makes it a whole lot easier to see the countless sights and attractions around town and throughout northern Queensland. Drive just 15 minutes north and you’ll reach the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, where you can take a 7.5 kilometre gondola ride over some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. Or, keep driving north to visit the surreal Daintree Rainforest, where you can explore the oldest rainforest in the world.

In town, allow plenty of time to explore the esplanade, boardwalk and lagoon, and to visit Rusty’s Markets during the weekend. Also ensure you pay a visit to the gorgeous Crystal Cascades, a series of waterfalls and swimming holes just out of town.

Thanks to Cairns’ northern location, it’s the perfect place to use as a base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef. And of course, the glittering beaches of the Queensland coast are all worth visiting, so be sure to stop off at places like Port Douglas and Palm Cove along the way.

Just keep in mind that you are not permitted to drive to Cooktown via the coast road with your Thrifty rental.
