Top Foodie Spots in Sydney

While Melbourne may take the top spot of the food capital of Australia, Sydney has a lot going for it too. Its foodie scene has gone from strength to strength, and with many new restaurants setting up shop in this Harbour City, it’s only going to get better. If dining out is one of your favourite pastimes, and discovering new spots is something you enjoy, this blog will give you a great head start. From the seemingly never-ending list of cafes in Sydney to delicious restaurants and eateries, Sydney has it all.

This plant-based restaurant is a favourite amongst many, and it’s clear to see why. Located in Potts Point, the incredible tasting menu has delighted the thousands of visitors that flock here each year. Head Chef Brent Savage decided to make Yellow a fully vegan restaurant in 2016 and has been delighting the crowds with beautifully tasting vegetables ever since. Head here for a fine-dining experience unlike any other - you’ll never think of plants quite the same.

Room 10

It wouldn’t be a Sydney food blog without a cafe mention or two. Room 10 in Pott’s Point has garnered fans city-wide, all of whom love to spend their weekend mornings with some brekkie and a coffee while sitting at this laneway cafe. Make sure to try their avo on toast while you’re here and one of their pastries on offer. They have delicious food, great coffee, and are in a fantastic location for a post-breakfast walk after! Just be prepared to queue, particularly on a nice day, as this place is quite popular.

Bennelong is the ultimate champion in iconic fine dining in Sydney. Under the incredible sails of the Sydney Opera House, Bennelong has long established itself as a cult leader in exquisite food options. With world-renowned Executive Chef Peter Gilmore bringing his artistic flair to the menu, every food option is delicious yet beautiful. Head here if you want a once in a lifetime dining experience.

The Depot

Situated in North Bondi, The Depot is renowned for its delicious coffee, and even tastier breakfast options. In fact, it’s gotten so popular that it now has two openings in North Bondi, one for sit-ins and longer breakfasts, and a kiosk for a quick grab and go coffee, which is a fantastic option for a post-morning swim pick me up! Make sure to try their breakfast quesadilla or rainbow bowl while you’re here.

Chin Chin

The younger sister of the flagship Melbourne restaurant, Chin Chin in Surry Hills is loud, delicious, and the perfect spot to head to for an incredible meal before a night out. With DJs adding to the party atmosphere, this restaurant and its menu are full of twists and turns. We recommend the Kingfish Sashimi and the Pad See Ew if you want a delicious dinner that you won’t forget in a hurry.

A staple in the Eastern Suburbs, Totti’s is a breath of fresh Italian air situated on the streets of Bondi. Loved by locals and tourists alike, this restaurant is a regular feature on Instagram due to its beautiful outdoor eating area - you’ll look like you’ve taken a European break when eating here. We recommend starting with the antipasti - Totti’s is famed for its wood-fired bread. Other notable mentions include the Ragu and the Stracciatella.

Lankan Filling Station

Lankan Filling Station is a modern Sri Lankan restaurant that has people coming back for more. Created by chef O Tama Carey, it is the most beautiful representation of Sri Lankan food, and it’s situated right in the heart of Sydney. Head to Lankan Filling Station in Darlinghurst for food full of flavour, spices, and ample portion sizes. The restaurant is always booming, so make sure to head in early if you want to grab a seat any night of the week!

The food options in Sydney are vast and plentiful - we are barely scratching the surface on all the incredible food options that are available here. From the delights at the beaches to some delicious eateries in the city, wherever you decide to stop for food, you’ll have a fantastic time.
