Highlights of Tasmania

Cradle Mountain

One of the most famous sights in Tasmania, Cradle Mountain has captured the hearts of many people and it’s clear to see why. Cradle Mountain is a natural beauty, located in the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. There are plenty of hikes available to fully explore the mountain and its surrounding areas - keep a lookout for Dove Lake and Marion’s Peak while adventuring here.

Bay of Fires

With beautiful turquoise ocean water, white sandy beaches, and fiery red boulders, this bay is an experience quite unlike any other. Bay of Fires is one of the most famous and beautiful beach destinations, but it’s still seemingly untouched, making it the perfect natural getaway. There are endless beaches, coves, and bays to explore, and of course, the incredibly blue ocean to swim in. It’s unbelievably beautiful, so make sure to visit it while you’re here.

Freycinet National Park

Tasmania is the gift that keeps on giving! Freycinet National Park is another highlight of the East Coast, and one of Tasmania’s standout gems. Head to Wineglass Bay lookout to see the iconic coastline, or if you dare, climb high above to the top of Mount Amos for an even better view. This hike isn’t for the faint-hearted, as it involves a lot of bouldering and climbing along a sheer incline. But, the climb is well worth it for the views! You can also trek down to the bottom of the beach itself, where white sands and blue waters will be waiting for you.

Maria Island

A seemingly undiscovered part of Tasmania is Maria Island. It’s well worth the visit, as this magical place is full of naturally beautiful sights. Hike along and see the epic views over the gorgeous green bush and see where it meets the expansive ocean. Spot the colours in the Painted Cliffs while taking the Mt Maria hike, and make time for a picnic spot along the road. It’s definitely a hidden gem, but it’s so worth the ferry ride over.

Port Arthur

Port Arthur is a place of unmistakable beauty. It was once the place of Australia’s harshest penal settlement, where criminals were sent for unthinkable punishments. This former prison is set upon the most beautiful land, with a fantastic harbour, Georgian architecture, and plenty of green open space. However, the history here is well worth taking the time to discover, so make sure to book a tour and be open to learning about the brutal past of this site.

Mt Field National Park

Mt Field is Tasmania’s oldest national park and is just an hour’s drive from Hobart. Filled with plenty of walk and hike options, it’s a gorgeous rainforest filled with lush green plants and trees. Take a stop at Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls and marvel at their sheer beauty as the water thunders down above you. It’s a beautiful spot, and the perfect place to head to if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of Hobart city centre.

Mt Wellington

Towering high above the city of Hobart is Mt Wellington, a beautiful mountain where at the top, you can take a minute to marvel at the city, coastline, and islands below. Mt Wellington is a spot where you can see for several kilometres on a clear day, over Bruny Island, the Tasman Peninsula and across Hobart itself. It can be very cold and windy up here, but there are ample options to discover this view. For those wanting to challenge themselves, you can hike to the top, however, there are several bus and car options for those wanting to ease themselves into the view.

Tasmania is one of Australia’s most beautiful states. Easily accessible by both boat and plane, Tasmania is a rugged landscape, with the best of both worlds: incredibly pristine and beautiful beaches, and wild rainforest throughout.
