How Do Toll Roads Work in Brisbane?
Brisbane's toll roads use electronic tolling, so there's no need to stop at a booth or carry cash. Instead, your car is detected as you pass through a toll point, and the charge is recorded electronically. All toll payments are managed by Linkt.

How to Pay Tolls With Thrifty
When you collect your Thrifty rental car, we'll ask whether you want to use your own toll pass or E-Tag.
If you have one, you can arrange to use it and opt out of Thrifty's Toll Service Product. Otherwise, you'll be opted in to our Toll Service Product. That means any tolls you incur during your rental will be passed on to you, along with a 15% administration charge on the toll costs. Toll charges are generally received within 10–15 business days.
If you do use your own E-Tag, you’ve made a Thrifty choice. It’s much cheaper and super easy to set up. Just log into your Linkt account, enter the vehicle registration number of your rental car, along with the dates you’ll be driving, and you’re good to go.
What Happens If I Don't Pay a Toll?
If you've opted out of Thrifty's Toll Service Product and drive on a toll road without a valid payment arrangement, you'll still be responsible for the toll.
Thrifty will charge the unpaid tolls, plus a $71.50 administration fee (including GST).
It's worth getting your toll payment sorted before you hit the road to avoid unexpected charges.
A Thrifty Tip for Toll Roads
Before you take a toll road, check how much time it’ll save you. Sometimes, it’ll save you lots of time. Other times, it won’t save much at all. Either way, you’ll always have to pay, so ask yourself whether the time you save is worth the money.
