Time to take your Instagram strategy to the next level. Why, you ask? Well, was a road trip even taken without photographic evidence? Luckily, we’ve searched far and wide for some of the most photogenic spots in all of Australia. You’ll need some wheels to get you to these places but trust us – they are worth it #doitforthegram.
1. The Otways, VIC
A short drive from Melbourne, the Otways have it all. Mountains, ocean, forest, waterfalls – you name it. You’re sure to pick up some great shots on the Great Ocean Road on the way down, too!
2. Tarkine Wilderness, TAS
You’ll need a 4WD to get here, but boy is it worth it. A stunning coastline of mountain ranges, rivers and cave systems, this is definitely a spot to get your next profile pic.
3. Umpherston Sinkhole, SA
Not the nicest name, but certainly nice on the eyes! Nestled in the Mount Gambier region of SA, this beautiful cave is a great spot to escape the heat and wander through the heritage listed gardens within.
4. Crystal Shower Falls, Dorrigo National Park, NSW
There’s hardly anything more ‘grammable than a waterfall, and Crystal Shower Falls does not disappoint. Sitting about halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, this showery wonder is well worth the road trip.
5. Grounds of Alexandria, NSW
Whiskey, coffee, and great food – this could be considered the mecca for Melbourne hipsters making the pilgrimage to Sydney for that epic shot. With a great menu and beautiful gardens, this quaint little restaurant in Sydney is well worth a look-in.
Not a big grammer? Then think of this as a road trip photo challenge. We’ll provide the road trip photo ideas as well as the ideal hire car for your adventures and you simply make it happen.
6. Glass House Mountains, QLD
Named by Captain Cook himself, the glasshouse mountains are apparently reminiscent of the “glass furnaces of Yorkshire”, whatever that means. Despite the old-English throwback, this mountain range is really quite something to look at. The next time you’re heading to the Sunshine Coast, be sure to check them out!
7. Lancelin Sand Dunes, WA
Just 90 minutes outside of Perth these sand dunes are like something out of an Apple computer stock background. Sandboarding and four-wheel driving are just a few popular activities you can undertake while getting that perfect Instagram photo.
8. Kangaroo Island, SA
There’s a group of cliffs here named “Remarkable Rocks” – enough said! But seriously, they are really quite something to look at (and take a photo while you’re at it). Definitely worth a visit while taking in the ocean views.
9. Melbourne Graffiti Laneways, VIC
The most livable city in the world is home to some of the most impressive street art in the world. You may even forget to snap when you begin trawling the web of alleys in Melbourne’s CBD. Caledonian and Hosier Lanes are the pinnacle but don’t miss AC/DC lane for a touch of rock’n’roll.
10. Gunlom falls in Kakadu National Park
Undoubtedly you will have seen the backs of some impressive influencers atop of Gunlom Falls in Kakadu National Park. Why not pose there too – you’re bound to hit at least 1K likes 😉 And if all else fails, you’ll have witnessed an incredible sunset.
So while they may look like something from a fairytale, we’re proud to say that these magical places really do exist in this beautiful country of ours! Now it’s up to you to go see them, and add them to your Instagram feed!
