Things to see and do in NSW

NSW is home to some glitzy, sizzling and surprising spots. Sydney is - definitely - the glitzy capital of this state with a stunning skyline, iconic landmarks (Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House) and the world famous Bondi Beach and Manly Beach. It's hustle and bustle by day and razzle and dazzle by night.

From the city of sunny Sydney there are countless drives that can be done in a day – Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and Central Coast (to name a few). And those that will need an overnight bag – Foster, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.

The sizzling NSW coast is breathtaking with sandy white beaches, clear blue oceans surrounded by vast mountain ranges and lush rainforests. Here at Thrifty we have some bonza vans that are perfect for a surf trip up the coast. Surprising surfin' spots can be found in hidden beaches where you and your surfboard may be the only beings for miles.

Exploring outer NSW

The twisting roads that weave through the vast landscape of outer NSW are truly awe-inspiring – especially when you take the road inland. Visiting Wagga Wagga you'll find a regional city full of life with a true laid back Aussie attitude. The extraordinary Murrumbidgee River is the heart of river sports like boating and fishing, where locals and visitors bond over their love of nature.

Travel further inland to the mining area of Broken Hill - a town that displays the bold vibrancy of outback Australia. The Federation and Victorian buildings are a testament to the strong mining history of the town and add to the Australian story. Other interesting rural towns to visit include Grafton, Tamworth, Lismore and Moree.

Whether you're enjoying the summer sports of NSW, such as swimming, diving, snorkeling and canoeing or cruising the endless roads on a crisp winter's day, one thing is for sure NSW is an incredible place to visit – especially by car!
