Day 1: ALICE SPRINGS
Collect your Thrifty 4WD and make your way to your hotel before heading to the Date Gardens. Enjoy a memorable ride along the sandy Todd River bed on the back of a camel whilst marvelling at the amazing colours of sunset.

Day 2: MT OLGA / KATA TJUTA
Depart Alice Springs early this morning, driving south along the Stuart Highway and west on the Lasseter Highway through beautiful, yet rugged, scenery to Ayers Rock Resort. You might like to spend the afternoon at the awesome domes of Mt Olga / Kata Tjuta. Take a walk into majestic Olga Gorge, an easy to moderate walking trail that follows the natural creek, which flows between two of the domes. For the more adventurous, walk along the gorge between two of the domes to view the spectacular panorama at the Valley of the Winds lookout. Later you can experience the magical and captivating colour changes as the sunsets over Ayers Rock / Uluru.

Day 3: AYERS ROCK / ULURU
Begin the day early to appreciate the radiance of sunrise over Ayers Rock / Uluru. Drive or walk around the base of the rock exploring the many aspects of this sacred monolith and appreciate the heritage of Uluru. Learn about the Aboriginal legends and heritage as you view ancient rock art galleries and waterholes. Alternatively, you may with to take the time to climb. Learn about the predators of the Red Centre and their significance to the Anangu people and their creation time stories before driving eastbound along the Lasseter Highway. Turn off at Luritja Road and travel through desert oak and cattle country to Kings Canyon Resort.

Day 4: KINGS CANYON / WATARRKA
Enjoy a morning at magnificent Kings Canyon. There is a choice of walks in this incredible region. Take the rim walk through unusual and impressive rock formations with spectacular views of the orange streaked canyon sides and into the Garden of Eden where you might like to take a swim. Alternatively the shaded canyon floor walk being shorter and less taxing, may be more your style. Travel back to Alice Springs in the afternoon via the Lasseter and Stuart Highways.

Day 5: DESERT LANDSCAPES
Visit the award winning Alice Springs Desert Park on Larapinta Drive for an in depth look at the creatures and habitats of this fascinating desert region. Explore its various habitats and witness free-flying birds of prey. See how animals of the desert come out at night in the fascinating nocturnal house. You might like to explore Alice Springs and its attractions including the Telegraph Station, School of the Air, Royal Flying doctor Service, Anzac Hill, Date Gardens, Frontier Camel Farm and many more sites before returning your vehicle and departing this stunning desert region. |
