Day 1: SYDNEY TO WOLLONGONG
Leave Sydney in the morning and drive to Wollongong, the city surrounded by parklands, picnic spots and playgrounds, is great for fishing, boating and swimming. Take a short drive in any direction from the city centre and you'll experience stunning views and find yourself enveloped in an array of art and craft shops, galleries and eateries. Culture, adventure, theatre and clubs, food, wine, entertainment, the choice is yours.
Option
Stay another day and experiment the Cockatoo Run. It climbs the Illawarra escarpment over the steepest rail line in NSW. Spectacular coastal scenery is on offer along the way and you also pass through some of the most beautiful rainforest left on the East Coast.

Day 2: WOLLONGONG TO KIAMA
Named from an Aboriginal word meaning 'where the sea makes noise', the entire Kiama region offers a wealth of breath taking scenery from unspoilt beaches stretching into the distance to natural rainforest.
Kiama's main attraction, the Blowhole, sprays 60 metres into the air at high tide. This bright little coastal town has interesting historic buildings, among them a parade of wooden miners' cottages on Princes Highway, now occupied by craft shops. The view from Saddleback Mountain Lookout spans 250 kilometres of superb coast.

Day 3: KIAMA TO NOWRA
This busy and expanding agricultural and business centre, located just upstream from the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, is an extremely popular tourist resort because of its stunning beaches extending north and south of the town. Wreck Bay to the south is extremely popular spot for surfing (Australia's Pipeline) and diving, while Jervis Bay is a favourite for the fishermen.
From the dairying town of Nowra, take a cruise on the Shoalhaven River on the MV Jerry Bailey, a three-hour trip among magnificent cliff and water scenery. Nowra also has an Animal Park.

Day 4: NOWRA TO ULLADULLA
A small fishing/resort town it has some of the best surfing beaches on the south coast. The town is a holiday centre during the summer months with great fishing spots and a stunning golf course overlooking the ocean. The many caravan parks, motels and fresh seafood make it a perfect spot for a vacation.

Day 5: ULLADULLA TO BATEMANS BAY
A delightful small holiday/fishing town on the Clyde River it was named by Captain Cook in 1770 for the captain of one of his previous ships. Being the closest coastal town to Canberra it attracts many visitors and is renowned for its crayfish and oysters.
With a host of attractions, Bateman's Bay is the ideal place to overnight. Cruise the Clyde River to the picturesque village of Nelligen, go fishing, and visit the Birdland Animal Park.

Day 6: BATEMANS BAY TO CANBERRA
Canberra is a beautiful young city originally planned by Walter Burley Griffin in 1911 when he won an international competition to plan a city. On 12 March 1913, Canberra was officially named with the laying of the foundation stone on Capital Hill, now the site of Parliament House. The city of Canberra lies approximately 300 kilometres southeast of Sydney and readily linked by road, rail and air services. These links provide information about Canberra and its surrounds.

Day 8: CANBERRA TO COOMA
Only one hour south from Canberra, Cooma provides the gateway to the Snowy Mountains trout fishery. The town is an ideal starting point to stock up on bait, lures, flies and other tackle before heading out. Whether you're an experienced fly fisher, keen troller or just happy drowning a worm, there is a place within easy travelling distance of Cooma that will satisfy your angling needs. Horse riding adventures, Bushwalking, cycling, caving. The Northern End of Kosciusko National Park has something for everyone in Winter, from the solitude of backcountry skiing to family fun skiing, snow-tubing and tobogganing.

Day 9: COOMA TO NAROOMA
Narooma, one of the gems of this region, lies further south. In a spectacular location around Wagonga Inlet, the town has some fine beaches and an interesting museum/visitor centre. One of the greatest attractions here, however, is an enjoyable boat trip to Montague Island Nature Reserve.

Day 10: NAROOMA TO MERIMBULA
This flourishing resort/fishing town is situated on the picturesque Lake Merimbula at the entrance to the Merimbula River. It is a haven for relaxing by the sea or enjoying its many attractions, which include excellent surfing, fishing, boating, a fantastic golf course and delicious fresh seafood's.

Day 11: MERIMBULA TO LAKES ENTRANCE
As its name implies, Lakes Entrance is the gateway to the extensive salt-water lakes system of eastern Victoria. At the eastern end of the Ninety Mile Beach it is a popular aquatic centre with sailing, fishing and waterskiing among the many activities. Not far away, Fraser Island has been developed as a resort area, and there are many walks in the Nyerimilang Park, a few kilometres south.
The lakes at Lakes Entrance are Lake Wellington, Lake Reeve, Lake Victoria and Lake King. There are several islands in the waters, the largest being Raymond Island. Cruises operate on the lakes from Lakes Entrance and you can hire boats and fishing gear to try your luck.

Day 12: LAKES ENTRANCE TO METUNG
There is nowhere in the world like Metung. A tiny village set in the heart of Gippsland Lakes, with its history steeped in boats, fishing and gentle life styles. A village that has always drawn those seeking a special holiday. It's a place that gives you time to recall the simple pleasures of life - to just be you.
To explore Australia's finest waterways, bring your own boat, go for a cruise, or hire a boat. The options are many, the destinations magnificent. Metung is famous for it's wonderful wooden boats (and there are many) lovely craft that recall earlier days. There's an excellent boat ramp, public jetties abound, and the Yacht Club gives a warm welcome to all boaties.

Day 13: METUNG TO FOSTER (WILSON'S PROM)
Situated in Victoria, is southernmost part of Mainland Australia. Wilson's Promontory is a national park renowned for its natural beauty and variety of wild-life, including Seals, Whales, Great Whites (Sharks), Fairy Penguins, Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats and a huge variety of birds, which are very tame and can be hand fed. Wilson's Prom is a great place to take the kids and the one's who never grew up. The sailing is magnificent.

Day 14: FOSTER TO MELBOURNE
Stop in for a game of golf at the Foster Golf Club, a picturesque course with views of Wilson's Promontory. From Foster, it's the trip to Melbourne taking in some of the most spectacular coastal scenery the Victoria has to offer. |
